I’m Carrie Crabtree, and I have spent more than 25 years in education. I earned my BS in Multidisciplinary Learning from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1999 and began teaching in 2000.

In 2003, I completed my MA in Curriculum and Instruction at Middle Tennessee State University. Over the next two decades, I taught grades K-4 and helped lead technology instruction and literacy initiatives.
My first district, where I spent 17 years, was ahead of its time in technology and literacy research. That environment shaped my approach to teaching. While there, I authored an online 2nd-grade math textbook and received grants such as the Reading Grant, which gave teachers research-based strategies to help children learn to read.

I also chaired the School Improvement Plan committee. After changing districts in 2018, I led the School Leadership Committee, served on the curriculum adoption committee, and spent three years as a grade-level chairperson. I have presented at the local, state, and national levels on elementary technology integration, K-2 numeracy, and the science of reading.
I am a certified Orton-Gillingham and LETRS instructor. I also served as an educational consultant for a dyslexia center in Dubai, where I hosted a virtual workshop for parents. Since leaving the classroom in May 2024, I have worked as a curriculum designer for individuals and companies.

My projects include a preschool homeschool curriculum for a UK company, six preschool and kindergarten curricula for a New York City preschool franchise, and two children’s workbooks for an Australian publisher. I have also completed many other literacy and math projects.
